Shrink Wrapping Machines: Semi-Automatic, Automatic and High-Speed

PROPACK Products

What is a shrink wrapping machine?

A shrink wrapping machine is a packaging machine designed to group and wrap one or more products in heat-shrinkable film, generally made from polyethylene. After wrapping, the products pass through a shrink tunnel, where heat causes the film to shrink tightly around them, forming a compact, stable and protective package.

Depending on production requirements, an automatic or semi-automatic shrink wrapping machine can package products with or without a tray, according to their nature, format and the required presentation.

For over 25 years, PROPACK has supplied and integrated LP PACKAGING shrink wrapping machines for grouping, protecting and packaging a wide range of products in polyethylene film.

The range includes semi-automatic and automatic shrink wrappers with in-line or 90° infeed, as well as solutions for large industrial products, high-speed machines without a sealing bar, and combined tray forming and shrink wrapping machines. The choice of configuration depends on the product, format, required production speed and production line layout.

These machines are suitable for a wide range of sectors, including food processing, cosmetics and general industry. They can package bottles, containers, cartons, bags, canisters and many other products, individually or in groups.

Recyclable mono-material LDPE film and European PPWR regulations

The LP PACKAGING shrink wrapping machines supplied by PROPACK use heat-shrinkable low-density polyethylene (LDPE) films. When unprinted and free from additional materials, these mono-material films are recyclable and particularly well suited to polyethylene recycling streams.

Shrink wrapping machines allow the film dimensions and characteristics to be adapted to the products being packaged. Optimising packaging formats and shrink wrapping parameters can help reduce plastic consumption while maintaining product grouping, stability and protection.

The use of LDPE films incorporating recycled content can also be considered, depending on the technical properties of the film and production requirements.

In the context of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), the use of recyclable mono-material films and the optimisation of plastic consumption are important considerations for manufacturers.
